BIOGRAPHY
Benoît Singy discovered modern painting as a teenager and it was the Fri-Art contemporary art exhibition, organised in his home town in 1981, that determined his commitment to an artistic career.
He then divided his activities between architecture and artistic creation. Since the year 2000, he has actively collaborated with the APC gallery in Fribourg, Switzerland, developing projects and exhibitions in the spirit of conceptual art.
But a few years later, Benoît Singy returned to his youthful passion, painting, to devote himself to it professionally, while beginning new collaborations with international galleries. His works are already part of private collections.

ARTISTIC APPROACH
A deep sensitivity to nature, in particular to the vibrations of light and the forms that emerge from it, is at the heart of Benoît Singy’s work. The places where he works and the seasons are therefore of utmost significance.
The painter plays with the power of expression and the layering of the materials. This allows them to express their own plastic richness. His practice and appropriation of artistic and handicraft techniques reveal an immediately recognisable singularity in his works, based on the themes of traces, ghosts and the fragility of being, usually punctuated by a strong gesture.
At a time obsessed with mastery, the artist retorts by the imperfection of his gesture, which reflects the spiritual dimension inherent in any form of life. Benoît Singy’s abstract works reveal the pictorial imprint of a place, a memory or a sensation.
